Our client downsized to this 1950 2 bedroom apartment located opposite St Johns Church in Orrong Road. The apartment had undergone a major renovation just a few years prior so the bones of the apartment were excellent – it just needed a complete overall in the decoration. Spaces included the main bedroom, dining/living space and study. The main bedroom included a custom headboard and feature panel, bamboo bedside tables and large scale lamps completed the look.

The living/dining area was painted in Porters “Safari”– an excellent colour to showcase our client’s impressive art collection. Furniture included a 2 seater sofa from Arthur G, 2 original art deco leather chairs (reupholstered) and 2 antique hall chairs given a new lease on life with Schumacher fabric in Trellis. Sisal carpet was chosen to complement the extensive use of limestone used in the kitchen, bathrooms and hallway. Luxurious fabrics were used throughout including velvets, embroidered fabrics and linens. Our client was ex-military and had a special request - he wanted to have military drum sidetables which we were able to source from England which worked really well and added a point of interest to the room.

For the study the jumping off point was a Designers Guild Velvet in a bold colour of fuschia which we used on the custom lounge chair and ottoman. To complement we had cushions and lampshades made using another bold choice - Manual Canovas “Pagoda”. A purchase from 1st Dibs of a bamboo Etagere and a lovely bamboo desk finished the look.
